" Every time singer Morgan utters the word ‘babe’, something inside you will die."

Ava Leigh - Mad About The Boy
Gentle, fruity, reggae ‘lite’ tune that will get heads nodding and hips swaying simply because it perfectly matches the warm, summery mood.

Ida Maria - Queen Of The World
Bouncy, catchy and energetic song which would be unremarkable if it wasn’t for Ida’s raw, edgy vocals which add a rough, unpolished edge to this poppy little number.

One Two - Annie Mall
You can tell zat zis band is French because zey sing like zis in Ingleeshe, but that only seems to add to the cheeky, over enthusiastic charm of the Blur-circa-‘Boys-And-Girls’ vibe that they are going for. Warning, this song will stay in your head for days.

Paramore - That’s What You Get
The band border on the verge of being bearable, if it wasn’t for Hayley’s over emotional, whining vocals and the whoawhoawhoa’s that are liberally spread throughout their songs. This single is no exception and sounds identical to the rest of their work.

Born Ruffians - I Need A Life
This is bound to get you bopping around as the overwhelmingly simple jangly guitars, nasal vocals and tribal drums come together for three and a half minutes of pure pop perfection and worm their way inside your brain.

Reel People feat. Darien - Upside
Ideal wine bar music, here is something slightly funky and jazzy, with a mild soul edge. It could be put on repeat in said bar and ignored by customers who have more money than taste.

Matchbox Twenty - These Hard Times
Ever wondered what happened to Matchbox Twenty- that band who were famous for about 15 seconds back in 2003? No, funny that. This latest emotion-riddled single won’t do much to warm you to them either but is still likely to find its way onto the soundtrack of some overacted American teen-soap.

Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly - Keep Singing Out
Nothing special until a minute in when the brassy, mariachi trumpets kick in, lending warm, rich tones to an otherwise rather dull and lifeless release.

Does It Offend You Yeah? - Epic Last Song
Even though every time singer Morgan utters the word ‘babe’ something inside you will die a little and despite it sounding like oodles of other semi rocky, semi poppy singles, the driving drum beats lend this track a bit more oomph and it really isn’t that bad…honest.

Ladytron - Ghosts
Sleazy, dirty electro overlaid with static, buzzing and squealing guitars – this may well remind you of their previous single ‘If I Gave You Sugar’, but that doesn’t mean that it is a bad thing.

Moby - I Love To Move In Here
Back to the pretentious wine bar and as the soul grooves of Reel People fade away, the inoffensive beats of Moby’s latest tribute to the 1990s kick off. If it wasn’t for the unnecessary rapping and obligatory scratching two thirds of the way through the track, this would totally pass you by.

Mudcrutch - Scare Easy
The intro reminds you of REM’s lesser works whilst the Crosby, Stills And Nash vocals encourage you to get in your car and start driving. One for the dads perhaps?
