The End of the World
THE BIG BANG!
19.04.08
It’s your last night on Earth.
So party like there’s no tomorrow.
The year is 2018 and a disaster is looming. On the night of 19 April the world is going to end. An asteroid the size of Russia is headed straight for us and there’s nothing we can do to stop it. There will be no survivors. To avoid mass panic the governments of the world are doing their utmost to prevent this news from reaching the public, but we know the truth.
When the news breaks, some people might rush to be with their families; some might head for their places of worship; and some might simply be consumed by misery and self-pity. Then there will be some, like us, who might want to accept our fate, laugh in the face of adversity, gather together all the people we love, get smashed, and have the most self-indulgent, dirty, debauched night of our entire lives so that when we go out, it’s with love in our hearts and smiles on our faces!
So, if you want to die happy, come to the party to end all parties, on your last night on Earth.
The End of the World is a themed club experience in London, EC1. An unavoidable catastrophe is looming. We’re all going to die. But rather than mope around feeling sorry for ourselves, we’re throwing the party to end all parties. It’s your last chance to do all the things you always wanted to do and be the person you always wanted to be. The night combines music, performances, and story telling to submerge audience in the idea that the end is nigh and offers them the chance to party like there is no tomorrow.
Through newsflash interruptions guests are continually reminded that they are here in celebration of their last few hours. While the rest of the world panics, we’ll be laughing in the face of adversity and making sure we go out with a bang. Incredible acts will keep you entertained throughout the night and the Office of Correspondence will allow you to get your confessions off your chest and make you feel like a million dollars on your last night ever.
In the week running up to the night, guests email in their “Last Requests” – the songs they want to dance their last dance to. As we near the ‘end’, the DJs mix your chosen tracks and we dance until we explode.
Our doom is inevitable but at least we’re in it together. As the clock ticks down, love spreads around the room as we say our final goodbyes before we countdown to destruction and enter the unknown…….there’ll be no survivors, but at least we’ll go out with a bang.
The End Of The World is coming.
Bring all your friends.
Leave your inhibitions behind.
Do what you always wanted to do.
Be who you always wanted to be.
Dance like there’s no tomorrow…
…and die happy.

Lounge On The Farm
NEW LINE UP ADDITIONS ANNOUNCED FOR
LOUNGE ON THE FARM
LIGHTSPEED CHAMPION / THE BEES / THE SHORTWAVE SET / FINDLAY BROWN /CAGEDBABY (DJ) / FILTHY DUKES (DJ) /
THE BOOKHOUSE BOYS
11 / 12 / 13 JULY - MERTON FARM, CANTERBURY, KENT
www.loungeonthefarm.co.uk
***TICKETS ON SALE NOW***
Lounge On The Farm, Kent’s original festival on the farm, are pleased to announce brand new additions to their already stellar line-up, with Lightspeed Champion, The Bees, Findlay Brown, The Shortwave Set, The Bookhouse Boys, Caged Baby and Filthy Dukes joining the party in the pastures.

Lightspeed Champion’s folk-driven indie rock has been making waves for the past two years since front-man Dev Hynes launched his solo venture in a flash of blinding glory. With a live band that features a revolving cast of the cream of the UK’s indie scene, sometimes including the likes of Farris Rotter and Jack Penate and always aided and abetted by Hope Of The States’ Mike Siddell and erstwhile Dead Disco drummer Anna Prior, Lightspeed Champion’s sweet, melodic sounds are a must see. There was just no stopping festival legends The Bees from returning to Lounge On The Farm once again after their rip-roaring set caused mayhem in The Cow Shed last year. The band made firm friends with the LOTF mob and had such a thoroughly good time that they’ve pledged to bring even more of their festival magic to this year’s event and with their infectious grooves spreading like wild fire, you can guarantee they will be one of this year’s highlights too.

Top troubadour Findlay Brown will be unfettering his sensitive songs for an intimate set of folk-tinged pysch-country. Cut from the same cloth as Nick Drake, John Martyn and Tim Buckley, Findlay Brown’s stunningly beautiful tunes make for the perfect festival pick-me-up. Another addition to the bill is surf rockers The Bookhouse Boys. Featuring a 9-piece line-up that includes two drummers, the band is named after a secret society from Twin Peaks and sport a high-octane live show that sounds uncannily like David Lynch and Quentin Tarrantino having babies with Scott Walker. Gnarls Barkley main man Dangamouse’s favourite new band, The Shortwave Set, who have just completed their new album ‘Replica Sun Machine’ with the renowned producer, will be unleashing the melting-pot of psychedelic pop sounds that have gained them plaudits from as far and wide as Radio 1, The Times, The Observer and The Culture Show, making them yet another essential ingredient in Lounge On The Farm’s armoury.

With the indie kids well and truly catered for, the Lounge On The Farm crew have been lining up a serious Dance bill for those that want to boogie the nights away. With DJ sets already confirmed for Dexy’s Midnight Runners legend Kevin Rowland, Jon Carter and The Dub Pistols Sound System, the incomparable Cagedbaby will be joining the festivities for a barnstorming hoedown. A purveyor of blissful electro-synth-pop-dance music, Cagedbaby’s DJ sets are renowned for rocking the spot and his appearance in The Garden Party tent is guaranteed to raise the roof. The boundless enthusiasm of Filthy Dukes will also be present and correct for a hip-wiggling DJ set, laying down a giddying array of groovy beats that will keep the crowd bouncing.

Taking place on 11th 12th & 13th of July in the garden of England with some exciting further line up announcements to come, Lounge On The Farm gives up-and-coming local acts (that have included the likes of Underground Heroes and The Onlookers in the past) the opportunity to play alongside some genuine heavy hitters. Aside from the music, there will be plenty of amazing attractions including The Village Green that boasts specially brewed ciders & beers and mouth-watering food concessions where all the goods are sourced from within a 20 mile radius of the site, there will also be the Little Lounge and Red Tent to keep the younger crowd occupied and the School Of Rock that will be unearthing Kent’s future stars. With their continued support for local business and local talent, as well as their commitment to providing a truly hedonistic atmosphere, Lounge On The Farm isn’t just an amazing festival weekend; it’s a socially responsible event with some serious green credentials.

The Line-up so far…

Sleeveface
SLEEVEFACE: THE LONDON PARTY
The Social, Little Portland Street, London, W1W
Wednesday 16th April 2008
£4 on the door 6pm – 12pm

Sleeveface: one or more persons obscuring or augmenting any part of their body or bodies with record sleeve(s) causing an illusion.

To explain…all you need to create a Sleeveface is a vinyl record sleeve and a face. Put the sleeve in front of your face, take a photo and there you have it – Sleeveface! (See picture).

Sleeveface began in Cardiff when some DJs were monkeying around with their records. They created a website – www.sleeveface.com – and started a group on a popular social networking site. Lots and lots of people from far and wide joined the phenomenon, adding their own creative, amusing photos. Interest came from all over the world – Australia, Canada, the USA, Finland and more.

Now Sleeveface are holding their very first event. With the DJs who started the whole shebang playing their own records, a lot of drinking, dancing and holding sleeves in front of faces, the event is a chance for Sleevefacers to meet, swap ideas, compare Sleeveface stories and, most importantly, to have a good old knees-up.

Entry is £4 and tickets are available on the door.

Tapestry
Tapestry goes west 2008 medieval rock Festival,
Margam Park, Port Talbot, Wales, SA13 2TH
Friday and Saturday 8/9th August
£60 inc camping - available online at www.wegottickets.com
Here Comes The Knight...
After years among the cowboys if Cornwall, 2006 saw Tapestry Goes West galloping off to pastures medieval in Wales to great aclaim. This year it's more of the same...only more so.
This ” two and a bit” day festival returns across the Severn Estuary to our site in South Wales; at the heart of the land of the dragon and the legend of King Arthur and Camelot.
Tapestry 2008 continues where last year left off. As well as the eclectic mix of bands there will be a medieval village, mead a plenty and jousting from Europe's premier team of brave horsemen, The Knights of Arkley.
For those with no transport of their own a trains run regularly to nearby port Talbot and buses to the site at Margam Park, a beautiful deer park near the golden sands of Porthcawl and the Mumbles peninsular
As with previous Tapestry Festivals the second day will begin with a visit to the beach.
Reviews from previous years .....
NME - 'the best festival ever' Playlouder - 'a perfect festival' Time Out - 'one of this summers highlights' The Times - 'an extraordinary event' The Guardian - 'very strange and beautiful'
Emily Evis on festivals in Time Out - 'I'd go for one of the smaller, more interesting ones like Green Man or Tapestry Goes West...'

Tignesfest
17th - 20th April 2008
Tignes, France
A Fresh, New ... and FREE Festival!
www.tignesfest.com
www.myspace.com/tignesfest
Featuring all new talent... A Human, Alex Metric, Alex Skt, Autokratz live, The Bloody Beetroots, Boy 8-Bit, Chris Lung, Cristal Palace Band, Dark Jedis, David E. Sugar, James Yuill, Kissy Sell Out featuring Dan M, Naomi Roper, Poney Poney, Primary 1, South Central, The Shoes, Tokyoyoyo, Trash Fashion, Trevoy Loveys and curators Eddy Temple Morris, The Loose Cannons and Kissy Sell Out.
TignesFest is a dynamic new alpine music event to be held in one of the top rated (and highest!) ski resorts in the world, Tignes. Running from 17-20th April, TignesFest is a musical cocktail showcasing the freshest talent out there today. From djs to live bands and exclusive acoustic sets, it's also a long weekend of skiing, snowboarding, socialising and sounds for the discerning and curious who like to experience something outside of the norm. Best and most important of all, the event is free!
Curating the show are radio broadcasters from the UK's 3 top radio stations; Eddy Temple Morris (XFM), Kissy Sell Out (R1) and The Loose Cannons (Kiss FM) respectively, who have pulled in some artists/acts that are sure to excite and intrigue. XFM's Eddy Temple Morris will be broadcasting his show live from TignesFest on Friday 18th April, and is delighted to be part of the inaugural event in the Alps.
"Imagine if the kind of music I play on The Remix had its own 'In The City'... now picture that city being a town on top of a snow covered mountain... It's a nice picture isn't it? You carve down a beautiful French mountain on a snowboard, then take your apres ski with the Autokratz and Boy 8 Bit, and while you go nuts at a brilliant gig, your mates can hear it go out on Xfm and curse the fact they're not there with you." Enthuses Eddy.
Tignes is regarded as one of the world's highest and most snow-sure ski areas for skiers and snowboarders alike. It has pistes to suit all, with the Naturides (ungroomed pistes) and the Spot (Skiing the Powder Of Tignes) zone, a cross between off-piste and a freestyle jumps park, and not forgetting the offpiste activities including snowmobiling, paragliding, ice diving, ice skating, horse riding, bowling and the Ice Museum. There are also many spas that offer sauna, Jacuzzi and of course the essential indulgent massage!
TignesFest ethos:
As revenues from product sales decrease and more and more high profile (and not so high profile!) artists give away their catalogues for free, the music industry is seeking new ways of finding and promoting talent, repackaging music and marketing their artists - with the added hindrance of ever-shrinking budgets.
The internet - whilst beneficial for introducing new artists into the scene and giving them a break via portals such as Myspace - has contributed to the demise of music sales by the direct increase of rampant online piracy. The digital revolution has therefore also served to reduce the amount of support the industry can offer new acts. Along with this, the process of nurturing and developing new talent has changed, and so too has the face of the industry.
With TignesFest we aim to help find and support new talent, provide a platform for promotion and encourage a new generation to think about the detrimental effect music piracy has on the industry and musicians whilst also giving the consumer FREE opportunities to discover new talent and thus gain their support of musicians. Radio broadcasters meanwhile, are still very much at the forefront of finding new music; they receive hundreds of demos and promos each week, and they help to shape what the public listen to.
With this in mind, TignesFest has the support of three key broadcasters in the UK who will help to curate the event. With many years radio and music experience under their belts, the curators have been instrumental in developing their respective music genres and finding new and exciting artists whilst supporting the industry's key DJs and musicians.

Wakestock
27th - 29th June / Blenheim Palace
Woodstock, Oxfordshire
4th – 6th July / Abersoch
Cardigan Bay, North Wales

NEW HEADLINE ACTS ADDED TO THE COOLEST FESTIVAL OF THE SUMMER

Relentless Wakestock 2008, Europe’s largest and most successful wakeboard music festival, is proud to announce that MARK RONSON, THE FUTUREHEADS, CALVIN HARRIS, PENDULUM, LIGHTSPEED CHAMPION, TROPHY TWINS, TY and PART TIME HEROS have been added to an already enviable bill. The latest additions will be joining Groove Armada, The Streets, Supergrass, Funeral for a Friend, The Hoosiers, Duffy, Hadouken, Young Knives, Metronomy, Jazzie B and Audio Bullys – with more to be announced in the upcoming weeks.

Relentless Wakestock, sponsored by Relentless Energy Drink, recently announced a second date and a new prestigious location within the amazing grounds of Blenheim Palace, Oxfordshire, from 27th – 29th June 2008. It is the first time that a contemporary music festival has been held within the grounds of Blenheim Palace and the Wakestock organisers are thrilled to have found such a fantastic venue for their second festival.

Now in its 9th sell out year, the original festival in Abersoch, North Wales (4th – 6th July 2008) and the new Wakestock Blenheim Palace promise to serve up a double helping of strong rip roaring music, world class wakeboarding, on-site camping and a weekend full of exhilarating on and off water entertainment. Better than that, whichever Relentless Wakestock visitors choose this year, the best scenery and the coolest festival sites are guaranteed. Abersoch boasts stunning beaches with some incredible surf breaks, and the site at Blenheim Palace sits within the awe-inspiring Parkland next to the picturesque lakes. Day tickets for both venues will go on sale on the 31st March - priced at £40 per day.

Wakeboarding is the world’s fastest growing watersport with over 3 million participants worldwide. Wakeboarding began back in the 1970’s when surfers who were bored of waiting for the waves began pulling their boards behind a speedboat with a ski rope. The summer equivalent to snowboarding, wakeboarding has now grown hugely over the past 10 years and is no longer the little brother of the boardsports world. If you add on the wakeskating community you have a boardsports family that outnumber surfers by more then two to one. The riding you see at Wakestock includes an elite selection of some of the world’s best riders, you get the opportunity to see them throw down massive tricks, and hit some of the biggest slider rails in any competition right in front of the crowds. The spectators are able to see every slide, every trick and every stack whilst standing only metres away from the action – wakeboarding at this level is an awesome spectator sport.

“2008 is going to be the Year of Wakestock!” says Wakestock Founder, Mark Durston. “We’ve built the festival up over the last 8 years in Abersoch to be a really cool mix of the world’s best wakeboarders, bands & DJ’s right at the forefront of the live music scene and a lifestyle that is unrivalled by any other festival! With the help of Stuart Galbraith, CEO of Kilimanjaro, to develop the festival and to add a second venue as stunning as Blenheim Palace was an opportunity we’ve relished. The grounds at Blenheim Palace, as a festival venue, are first class. Add to this a stunning lake sat right in front of the Palace and you have the perfect setting to showcase the coolest sport on water”.

The creator of Download and Wireless festivals, Stuart Galbraith, believes Wakestock represents the future of festivals: “Everyone knows the British festival calendar is getting busier each year and promoters need to deliver more than just a good stage line up. Wakestock combines this package with its programme of world class wakeboarding, music and full on entertainment that music artists have been keen to sign up to”

It’s the first time that Blenheim Palace has played host to such a unique event and Chief Executive, John Hoy, believes that the World Heritage setting provides an ideal backdrop for Wakestock “We are delighted to have the opportunity to add this exciting event to our calendar and to stage an event geared specifically for the younger audience who will attend. We are really looking forward to working closely with the organisers and to welcoming all visitors to the event”.
