Last year's wrestle with the mud all but killed off Glade, but 2008 looks set to see the festival bounce right back

They say that time is a great healer, and it was certainly the only thing that was going to sort out the devastation left on the Wasing Estate by Glade 2007. Through sheer bad luck, last year's event took place not only on the very same weekend as the infamous floods, but also in one of the worst hit areas.
Sinking stages, rivers of liquid mud and ruined pastureland all threatened the future of the festival. However, one year on and Mother Nature has done a sterling job of resurrecting the site back to its former green glory, just in time for the 2008 installment.
Having secured a new five-year licence with a 12,000 capacity, this year's event is shaping up to be the biggest and best so far, with a line up ranging from acid soundscape pioneers The Orb, Warp electronica masters Autechre, and Oz Drum and Bass rock-out merchants Pendulum, right through the spectrum of dance music to the breakcore bedlam of DJ Hellfish and the Bangface crew. And we haven't even mentioned the usual substantial helping of psy-trance to swing your poi-poi to. We have now.
Other names pushing the state of the art sound systems blasting the festival's eight arenas will be Techno legend Jeff Mills, Plump DJ's, Eddy Temple-Morris, Tayo, System 7, Red Snapper, and Elite Force.
Staying mercifully clear of all types of corporate sponsorship and true to it's Glastonbury-born ethos, expect Glade '08 to boast cabaret acts and burlesque shows in the Pussy Parlure and a good dose of organic tucker to counteract all the toxins and see you through the weekend. The homebrew pear cider stall is the place to hit if you find yourself still sober at 7pm and need to catch up with your already trolleyed dancing troop.
Top that all off with new site art, circus performers, stage designs and lightshows, and Glade 2008 should be a belter.
