Songs Of Green Pheasant - Gyllyng Street
Simon T Diplock
Take a trip
"Sometimes the music will be a distant call but every so often it’ll focus into a lush hug of warm guitars, an arc of almost-alien folk or a gentle throb of dreamy ambience, all staying just long enough to truly soothe before quietly gliding away again."
As soon as you can, step away from the computer and take a trip down to ‘Gyllyng Street’. It might be a job to find because this is a place no route planner or GPS system will recognise. And it might take some careful preparation because once you set off on this trip you can’t stop until the end. The destination though, will most definitely be worth the effort.
Whatever time of day you arrive it’ll be lit by a clear, delicate dawn or shrouded in a wonderful, misty kind of dusk. Whatever kind of mood you’re in when you get there, you’ll instantly feel better for arriving and you’ll leave content and unhurried and delightfully changed. And, no matter how or when you do get there, no matter how long you stay, there will always be music playing.
Sometimes it’ll be a distant call, the sort of foreign sound that makes you wonder what array of instruments is even being played, but every so often it’ll focus into a lush hug of warm guitars, an arc of almost-alien folk or a gentle throb of dreamy ambience, all staying just long enough to truly soothe before quietly gliding away again.
If you’re happy in the rat race then stay there, it’s all yours. But, if your life is missing a little pool of calm, a wellspring of musical beauty or a simple way to unwind, then pack your bags, close your eyes and open your ears, ‘Gyllyng Street’ is calling.
