"Here, satisfyingly, they are on the form of their lives with an invigorating, celebratory ditty about singer Greg's OCD."

Delays – Hooray
Good band, Delays, tarred mightily unfairly with the brush used more often on Coldplay and 'that lot'. Here, satisfyingly, they are on the form of their lives with an invigorating, celebratory ditty about singer Greg's OCD. It sounds like we were promised the Polyphonic Spree would, and it is marvellous.

Dan Le Sac vs Scroobius Pip – Look For The Woman
While this is by all means alright, you have to say (you do) that Dan Le Sac and Scroobius Pip have not matched with this, or indeed any other song, the heights of 'Thou Shalt Always Kill'. Really, this is just a proficient East London electro-rap about a girl, rather than a life-changing mega-hit. That is all.

Dawn Landes – Tired Of This Life
Lord, if there's one thing that we need more of RIGHT NOW, it's bohemian girls with acoustic guitars, light touches and heavy hearts. It shouldn't be allowed.

Kelly Rowland – Daylight
You wouldn't expect this to be any good, featuring as it does an anonymous guy from Gym Class Heroes. But for what it is - that is to say vapid R'n'B - it hits the spot.

Kenna – Out Of Control (State of Emotion)
If we are honest, we expected urban songsmith and mate of Mark Ronson Kenna to suck ass, when in actual fact he does anything but. What he has done is make a blistering electro-powered opus, which sounds, oddly, a bit like The Killers, but don't that put you off.

Spectrum 7 – Demo
Electremocore: the next great genre, believe you me. NN am perfectly serious; just forget Enter Shikari and it actually begins to make a lot of sense.

The Great Shakes – Demo
Post Libertines. We take huge comfort from the fact that the ass has totally fallen from its market, and this shower won't ever make it out of Asda.

ultCult – Demo
Good music, bad name, ugly Northern-accented spoken word vocals. Nevertheless, it's impossible not to like a band playing what sounds like lo-fi progressive tweepop. Total projected career sales: 17.

dEUS – The Architect Slow
Daft Belgian punk-funk. Daft, you'll understand, but so very slinky.

Beggars – The Future
Beggars' tour mates have included Babyshambles, The Courteeners and Joe Lean & The Blah Blah Blah. It's easy to sniff and return to the electremocore, so that's exactly what will happen now.

Digitalism – Pogo Remixes EP 08
Verdict: not as good as Daft Punk, but better than Justice. Here, though, Digitalism outdo themselves by quite some way with a needless but welcome clutch of remixes. They're largely of one song, but they sound good, so who's counting?
